Product Marketing Specialist

Job Description

The Product Marketing Specialist position is responsible for creating content for and the marketing implementation of new products to the e-commerce website. Analyze current and past marketing data to help determine overall marketing strategy per assigned web classification. This role is also responsible for writing necessary marketing materials, including plans, video scripts, and on-page content. This position reports to the Product Marketing Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Development and Sourcing team members to develop overall product strategy and new product roadmap for assigned product classifications to meet sales and profit objectives.
  • Works with cross-functional team on new product development, and begin marketing efforts during sourcing stage to reduce overall time to market
  • Ensure timeliness of new product introductions, in accordance with target launch dates for optimal sales performance
  • Researches and analyzes marketing landscape, to know competition and develop product marketing strategy based on assigned product classification
  • Monitor and evaluate existing product lines, in conjunction with cross-functional team – review and recommend changes/enhancements to marketing strategy of products based on consumer needs, competition, etc
  • Develop product marketing strategy per line/series, working closely with specialized departments to create and obtain necessary marketing components for web implementation, which may include:
  • Write engaging product content for website, using search engine optimization techniques
  • Creation of product branding efforts, based on collaborative determination with cross-functional team
  • Ensure marketing concepts coincide with the company's brand and mission statement

  • Proficient spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills

  • Familiarity with a variety of online marketing concepts and procedures, including search engine optimization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with B2B content writing
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Illustrator and Photoshop

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a business related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 - 4 years relevant work experience
