Not a snug fit between rod and ladder

I was able to assemble this product easily enough (and I have no aptitude for construction). It looks really lovely and is a great addition to my bathroom. But there is a problem because the long piece where the rod is attached is not completely straight and the rod doesn't fit tightly into the ladder. I haven't bolted the ladder rack to the wall yet, so hopefully I can mitigate that problem when that's done. But the pieces should have fit together snugly right from the beginning.
