Devon: "The Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor has been around since 1986. We were the second National Heritage area formed by the US Congress. Our mission is to celebrate the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution while also protecting the Blackstone River and its tributaries. Mark: It's very important to have volunteers like Displays2go and people like that to come in and clean up this place because there's only so much that we can do as an organization as a federal entity just by ourselves. You really rely on volunteers to come in and to care for these places. Suzanne: We have a program that is called, A Day of Service, where we coordinate the efforts of the volunteers with the tasks that we need done throughout the Heritage Corridor. Devon: And that's the power of the Corridor. You know we're not just this geographic location along the river, we're all about building communities and partnerships. As a non-profit partner with a National Park Service we rely on this type of support as a one-to-one match for our budget. Suzanne: People have so much going on in their lives. Two jobs, step families, health issues, car issues, work gets in the way, but people still find the time to volunteer. It's not about the quantity of hours that our volunteers give, it's the quality. Steve: We work because I know I'm only going to have these people for so much time, and we'll do the heavier work and get it done and it's great. Suzanne: Displays2go today volunteered service added up to $3,382.19. Let’s give you all a round of applause. (Clapping) Suzanne: I think Displays2go should put a challenge out to other companies to say, “walk the walk and talk the talk.” Because we're here, right? Devon: We are! Bob: It turned out perfect that they had a project for us last fall and it was such a success, that you know, we came back. Steve: That makes me feel great. So, thanks Bob. Bob: Yup!"
